JFK Junior Denied Secret Service Protection

Following the suspension of his independent presidential campaign, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has lost his Secret Service protection.

Kennedy, who was a third-party candidate, supported former President Donald Trump after concluding that his path to the White House was not viable. Although he has suspended his campaign, Kennedy remains on the ballot in some non-competitive states. President Biden had initially authorized Kennedy's protection after an assassination attempt on Trump in July. With Kennedy's withdrawal, the protection has ended. The Secret Service is mandated by law to protect major presidential candidates and their spouses in the 120 days leading up to a general election. Other candidates may be designated for protection if necessary. Kennedy’s decision to support Trump irritated the Biden administration, which retaliated. Robert Kennedy Jr. now risks sharing the fate of his father and uncles.
