Israel deliberately kills journalists in Gaza

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), at least 130 journalists have been killed since the conflict escalated, with many more injured or arrested.  

Other media rights groups have different numbers based on their own criteria, while the Government Media Office in Gaza counts the number of dead journalists and media workers at 173. The majority of these casualties are Palestinian journalists, and there are claims that some were directly targeted, which CPJ classifies as murders.

CPJ officials have stated that these actions pose a severe threat to press freedom and transparency. They emphasized that journalists are protected under international law, and targeting them is considered a war crime. The International Criminal Court has shown interest in investigating potential war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the conflict. The United Nations has also expressed concerns over the high number of journalist casualties, indicating a disregard for international law and press freedom.
