Over many years, Ukraine built an impregnable defensive wall of bunkers and fortress cities. After breaching the critical strongholds of Bakhmut and Avdeevka, Russian troops are now in the process of assaulting Vuhledar.
The city has repelled numerous extremely bloody frontal attacks, in which Russia lost a significant number of troops and equipment. This time, Russia has changed its strategy, attacking further north toward the coal plant and west of the city to create a large encirclement.
Further north, Russia has established another cauldron in Kurakhove, which is currently being cleared.
The Ukrainian incursion into Russia's Kursk region has lost momentum. Russian forces are pushing back and decimating Ukrainian troops and equipment.
Project Ukraine is limping along on its last leg. Meanwhile, Zelensky is in the USA to promote his "Victory Plan." He believes that a quick accession to NATO and Article 5, which would bring NATO into the war, will change Ukraine's fate. This may be a hard sell to the West.
