The Times of Israel reports that Ben Gurion Airport’s Terminal 1, previously the hub for low-cost carriers in Israel, has been closed following reduced demand for travel to and from Israel due to recent geopolitical unrest. This decision has forced budget airlines, including Ryanair, to cancel services to Israel or transfer their operations to Terminal 3, a terminal with higher fees and operational costs. Ryanair, one of the largest low-cost airlines in Europe, suspended flights from Tel Aviv after Ben Gurion Airport declined to temporarily match Terminal 1’s lower fee structure at Terminal 3, which would have allowed the airline to maintain its low-cost service to the region.
As Israel's economy crumbles questions arise of how much longer Israel can sustain the war.
