Al Jazeera reports that on July 23, 2024, in Beijing, Hamas and Fatah, along with 12 other Palestinian factions, signed an agreement to establish a "transitional national reconciliation government" for the governance of Gaza after the war.
The agreement, finalized after three days of intense discussions, was praised by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The accord includes the formation of a unity government, preparations for new elections, and a declaration of unity in response to Israeli attacks. Israel has criticized the agreement, asserting its intention to maintain control over Gaza.
