Kyiv has placed the Russian group Lukoil on a sanctions list, halting gas supplies to Hungary and Slovakia. Both countries have requested that the European Commission mediate a consultation process with Ukraine. Hungary receives 2 million metric tons of oil annually from the Russian group, accounting for about one-third of its total oil imports, according to Péter Szijjártó.
Victor Orban and Robert Fico both oppose Ursula von der Leyen's aggressive stance toward Russia.
